A8: Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)
Equivalent to CEF C1 and ALTE 4 levels [ more information ]CAE exam course
The aim of this course is for students to reach the level required for Cambridge Advanced English, an exam that was introduced in 1991 as a less academic, more accessible exam than Proficiency. On the staff here we have trained Oral examiners for CAE. Even if you don't do the CAE, you'll need an equivalent level to pass our internal level 8 test.
Classes at this level are generally small, so you have ample opportunity to speak and develop a high level of confidence in the language. Writing and speaking are the two main focuses of classes.
Alternative A8 "non-exam" course
We also have an alternative level 8 course for those not interested in taking CAE. The course is designed for advanced level students who have a post-FCE level of English and who want to maintain their high level but who have no interest in doing an exam course like CAE.
The level of English is the same but the focus of the course is different in that there will be less emphasis on exam practice and exam strategies and more time spent on oral and listening skills.
