English through Music (A5)
A good song can be a powerful thing. It can inspire and motivate us in many ways – to see the brighter side of things, to make a change in the world and to learn a new language!
This course is designed for students who love listening to, talking and writing about music, be it pop, hip-hop, folk or electro – and who want to learn English too.
On this course, songs will be used for conversation about topics or students' own personal experiences, to discover new vocabulary or analyse grammatical structures and to inspire students' writing. This course will be highly participatory and designed for creative students who are looking for the opportunity to:
- Imagine the story behind a song
- Discuss the historical or social significance of a song
- Read and write reviews of an album or concert
- Review their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary found in songs
- Practise their listening and pronunciation
- Watch and discuss music videos
- Present their favourite songs to the class
