Welcome to IH Barcelona's English Department

International House Barcelona has been teaching English to adults and children since 1972. The main objective of our English courses is to improve our students' communication skills. The emphasis of classroom activities is therefore the development of the students' abilities to speak and understand spoken English. For this reason classes are conducted entirely in English and our students are given plenty of opportunity to practise the sort of English they are likely to need outside the classroom.

Due attention is also paid to grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing skills, and a wide variety of materials is used as well as materials which have been written by our own teachers.

The teaching and the course content are carefully supervised by the Director of Studies, who is also responsible for ensuring that students are placed in the appropriate levels and that their progress is satisfactory.

The main source for students on our English courses is word of mouth. People tell their friends and family about us. We are very proud that our main source of students is personal recommendation. Have a look at the feedback from students who studied English at IH Barcelona recently.
