Barcelona has a huge variety of different kinds of art. Walking down the Ramblas, Barcelona's best-known street, for example, you come across actors and other artists from many different cultures offering paintings and handicrafts as well as imitating fabulous creatures or representing living paintings as soon as you throw a coin into a tin can or a hat.
If you prefer to look at paintings and sculptures of famous artists, you will find any number of museums and exhibitions here, like the Museu d'Art Comtemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), the Maritime Museum, the Picasso Museum, the Museu de Cerámica and the Museu de les Arts Decoratives at the Palau Reial, the Miró Foundation and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and many more. On certain days, some museums, like the MACBA, are even open at night.
If you've had enough of 'ordinary' museums, check some of those cute narrow streets in the center, and discover the small but nevertheless interesting and very special exhibitions that arre also on. I saw the Spencer Tunick photo exhibition at the Kültur Büro Barcelona (KBB). But on that particular day, I also got the chance to watch a great documentary about the artist himself projected on a screen on the roof, while sipping a drink and enjoying the wonderful view over the rooftops of the city. The presentation as well as the ambiance are going to stay in my mind as a very touching happening.
