DELE exam preparation courses
The DELE exam
The Instituto Cervantes, the Spanish equivalent of the British Council or the Goethe Institute, organises exams in the Spanish language known as "Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera" (or DELE). These are offered at three levels: 'Inicial', 'Intermedio' and 'Superior'.These levels are roughly equivalent to Cambridge ESOL's English language exams: PET, First Certificate and Proficiency (i.e. intermediate, advanced and very advanced).
All three exams include reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, and oral expression components. All five parts of the exam are taken on the same day. The "Inicial" exam takes a total of 2 hours 50 minutes to complete; "Intermedio" lasts a total of 3 hours 45 minutes and the "Superior" exam 4 hours.
Our DELE exam preparation courses
The courses focus on preparing the students to take the DELE exams. Students are given access to past papers and have the opportunity to develop and practise specific exam techniques.
During the first week of the course, we advise students which level of the exam we think they should register for, to ensure a successful outcome.
Students can register for the exam at IH Barcelona.

For beginners, the combination should be a minimum 8-week intensive course, followed by the 4-week DELE course. This combination should ensure that students who start out as beginners pass the DELE "Inicial" exam successfully.
