Spanish teacher training courses

International House Barcelona has been training teachers of Spanish since 1986, as well as being one of Europe's top ELT (or TEFL) teacher training centres.
We currently train over 200 Spanish language teachers per year on our courses and also run a major annual Spanish as a foreign language (or ELE) conference, Encuentro Práctico.
In Barcelona, we offer three basic training course programmes for Spanish teachers:
1: Introductory (or Pre-service) courses
These courses are designed for fluent Spanish speakers (either native or non-native) who would like to learn how to teach Spanish to foreigners. We offer these courses on both an intensive (full-time) basis, as well as an extensive (part-time) basis. The intensive courses last for 4 weeks (120 hours) and cover both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching.

Those students who hold a University degree, have a suitably high level of Spanish (native or near-native speaker level) and who successfully complete one of these Introductory Training courses, receive an officially recognised teaching certificate from the University of Barcelona. This certificate is also equivalent to 6 credits on the University of Barcelona's Masters course in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
