CELTA course report
About the survey
Report 3 (2013)
During 2013, we've been carrying out two major surveys into our CELTA courses, with a view to updating our information, some of which is now a decade old.
As well as surveying a similiar sample of ex-CELTA course trainees, as previously, throughout the year we have been taking extensive feedback from trainees as they complete their course, and our next CELTA Report will included information from both of these sources.
Results are due to be published in early 2014.
Report 2 (2003-2005)
In early 2005 we conducted a second survey. The objectives of this included validating our first set of results, and examining further issues, particularly those of interest to the careers advice we provide.
Report 1 (2002-2004)
Our first survey was carried out in August-September 2004, using an online questionnaire, which former CELTA course trainees were asked to answer by email.
The email invitation was sent out to 123 people who had taken the CELTA course at International House Barcelona in the months of January and March 2004 (i.e. 5-7 months out, n=40) and in June, July and August 2002 (i.e. 25-27 months out, n=83).
A total of 43 former CELTA trainees answered the questionnaire (34.95% of those the questionnaire was sent to).
Trainees had the option of remaining anonymous if they so wished, and otherwise provided permission for their names to be used.
The Teacher Training Department at IH Barcelona wishes to thank all of those who took the time and trouble to provide us with their feedback.
In order to introduce a degree of independence to the survey, it was carried out by someone external to the Teacher Training Department, IH Barcelona's webmaster Tom Walton, who is also the author of these Reports.
