Where do you sit or stand in the classroom?

Where do you sit (or stand) in the classroom -- and what difference (if any) does it make?

I like this picture. If it gives you the impression that the teacher is at the centre of things, that's a false impression, I think.

I like the fact that the teacher seems to have squatted down to talk to the kid. He seems to have got down just below the kid's eye level, and is looking slightly up, but -- we imagine -- right in to the kid's eyes.

He looks relaxed, he looks interested in what the kid's saying, he's listening, he looks as if it matters.

Things like that are important in any class -- but maybe especially so with kids...
