LIFE photos: something actually useful from Twitter!

Among my Twitter litter...

I'm not a big fan of Twitter (I actually have never yet cluttered up cyberspace with a message of my own) but I check it every day, largely because I'm "following" LIFE.com, which sends me links to fabulous pictures for use in class every day.

As we've got PCs and projectors and interactive whiteboards in many of our classrooms there's no need to print them out -- you can just beam them up at sizes which are so much more impressive than on A4 photocopies...

Click here for those black cats and the unusual phobias you can just make out in the image, above...

>> See also: RSS, which would be an alternative way of following LIFE

There are links and other information on Twitter here that may interest...

Personally, I'm still not convinced. My advice: the fewer people you "follow" the more you'll like Twitter.

Find a couple of people that actually have interesting things to say, and block out all those just twittering...

Great link to Life.com, but I have a question. I also use photos from http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3842331/ to use in class, the generate amazing discussions with fantastic vocabulary, and are especially useful with our new projectors. But, on some sites, including Life and the BBC, I'm not sure how to put them into the powerpoint presentations I use. On MSNBC I just right click and copy, but I can't do that on these others. Any advice? Check out those other photos too, they're really excellent.

You could press the Scrn Prnt key (on a Spanish keyboard that's "Imp Pant"...).

Nothing will happen -- but you've just taken a screen capture.

Now paste it into PowerPoint or whatever...

You might also take it first through Paint or some other image editing program to cut out just the bits you want...
