Moodle upgrade
We upgraded to a new version of Moodle (now 2.2) on January 11. You should find that it is now fully functional although we still have some work to do on it.
Note the following:
- Appearance The courses now have a new look, but this temporary and will be changing over the course of January.
- Blocks in the sidebar Note that you can minimise and maximise the different "blocks" in the side bar, using the small "plus" and "minus" icons.
- Fit on pages Depending on your browser settings, you may find that the right hand side of some pages is not fitting properly. Either use the scroll bar or else Control and -/Control and + to zoom out and in.
- Highlighting new forum messages In order to have new messages highlighted in the forums, access your profile (see below) and say "Yes" to forum tracking.
- Messages If you find you are getting forum messages by email and do not want them, either (a) "unsubscribe" using the link in the email or (b) access your profile (see below) and pick your options there.
- Navigation Instead of the old drop-down menu, one of the blocks in the new sidebar allows you to view all your course pages. If you don't like this, minimise it and use the course home page to navigate the content.
- Printing Depending on your browser, you may have to make adjustments to your printing preferences if you want to print pages. If parts of pages are getting cut off, you should nevertheless find that this is only the navigation, which may not matter to you. Note also that Firefox will give you a noticeably better result and that Internet Explorer is notoriously bad at printing web pages.
- Your profile To access your profile, look for "My profile settings", which you will find in the sidebar under "Settings".
NOTE If the new version gives you any technical issues, please do get in touch with us.
