Reactive Teaching

Course outline

This is a Professional Development Course for teachers with ELT qualifications at Certificate or Diploma level, and teaching experience of at least two years who are interested in going beyond the course book and beyond methodologies which have become traditional and commonplace.

It is a two-week course concentrating on the classroom implementation of developments in ELT concerning student-generated language and language learning as suggested in approaches and writings such as Charles Curran's Community Language Learning and Carl Rogers' Freedom to Learn, and further developed in approaches such as "Dogme" in the last few years.

The course includes teaching practice (TP) which is observed and discussed by course participants and the course tutors. The aim of this TP is for experimentation with the ideas discussed and demonstrated on the course.

The course is certificated by International House Barcelona.
