Social programme

The course includes a varied programme of social activities and excursions designed to provide students with a real insight into the Cuban culture and lifestyle.

A typical 3-week social programme is outlined below. All entrance fees and transport costs are included are included in the course fee.

Week 1

• Monday: Guided tour of Santiago city centre on foot
• Wednesday: Visit to Moncada Barracks, the site of the first attack on the Batista regime by Fidel
• Friday: Salsa lesson
• Saturday: Excursion to Gran Piedra, la Granjita and El Porvenir natural swimming pool
  

Week 2

• Monday: Guided visit to the Carnival Museum
• Wednesday: Cuban music - its roots and development
• Friday: Evening visit to the Casa de la Trova for live band

Week 3

• Monday: Guided visit of the City museum
• Wednesday: Visit to El Morro castle at the mouth of Santiago bay
• Friday: Salsa lesson
• Saturday: Excursion to exotic fern and orchid garden, El Cobre basilica and local beach
