CELTA + Spanish

2-week Spanish course

Apart from learning some Spanish, you will meet the foreign students in the classes you observe and see experienced teachers in action. This will help to make your teaching practice during CELTA less intimidating and you will probably find it easier to anticipate and deal with students' language problems during teaching practice.

The Spanish course is 20 hours per week, at any level, in international groups with other language learners. You will benefit from seeing your Spanish teachers in action whilst improving your own Spanish language skills.

Please note that the Spanish course is not suitable for absolute beginners. At least a very basic knowledge of Spanish is required in order to book the course.

4-week CELTA course

The four-week Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) is probably the most widely recognised qualification within the EFL profession. The course is suitable for both those new to the profession and those with experience but no formal training.

Chilling out... You've learnt a lot, you've worked hard for
six weeks: you deserve a week off!

1-week chill out

The last week of this package is a much-needed one-week chill out period. This time can be used to prepare your CV and start job hunting (using the Spanish that you have learnt on the course). If you have already found a job or don't want to start looking yet you can have a well-earned holiday in Palma.

Note: If you are a complete beginner at Spanish, you will need to start these classes 3 weeks before the CELTA Course (see beginner start dates on the Spanish pages) and take your "Chill Out" week before, rather than after, the CELTA course.

If you wish to take your Spanish course after doing CELTA, that is also possible. However, we think you will find it more interesting to experience learning Spanish before doing the course. Then, you have some fresh, first-hand experience of learning a language which it is useful to reflect on while you are taking your CELTA course.
