English For Work

These courses have been designed for those who want to improve their English for the business world. We offer two levels: Lower Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Each level is made up of eight independent modules on different subjects and aspects related to the professional environment.

The modules each take about 20 - 25 hours to complete and are as follows:

Cambridge First Certificate In English (FCE)

This course has been designed for those people who would like to do the Cambridge University First Certificate In English (FCE) exam in the future.

First Certificate is the third level of the Cambridge exams in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). It is an upper intermediate level exam and recognises the ability to deal confidently with a range of written and spoken communications. Successful candidates receive a certificate awarded by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations recognised, recognised by universities and employers in many countries.

We currently have four sample tests for you to work with. Each practice test guides you through the skills needed to pass the FCE exam, with a variety of tasks and activities in all the sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Use of English. You can also work with your personal tutor on the speaking component as you progress through each sample test.

IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a test designed mainly for students who want to enter universities or training programmes in English-speaking countries. It is a well-known test of English language proficiency.

This online preparation course follows closely the structure of the IELTS exam. It is made up of six modules: introduction, listening, reading, writing, speaking and finally a complete practice test.

During the course there are detailed explanations and exercises, useful tips for candidates and a lot of interactive material. A wide variety of exercises and authentic exam tasks give students the opportunity for genuine practice while also motivating them. The tutor offers support for writing and speaking.

English for Teachers

This is a course for teachers. There are two levels: Lower Intermediate and Advanced.

They are very similar to the General English courses but they also include a section designed to improve and consolidate English teaching skills, and widen knowledge of the English teaching world (ELT).

Methodology for Teachers

We offer 2 online courses - one aimed at primary teachers and another for teachersof secondary students or adults.

The wide variety of exercise types prepare students for a choice of assignments, based either on their classroom teaching or on their familiarity with current ELT materials.

Pronunciation Practice

This is a general introduction to the sounds of English. This online course has been designed to help students learn and practise the 44 sounds of spoken English in a systematic way. Learners can experience the sound in a variety of ways and become sensitised to the effect of context on pronunciation.

A special feature of the course is the 'sounds in contrast' facility, whereby learners can practise discriminating commonly confused sounds.

The model of English used is 'Received Pronunciation' (RP) which corresponds to the standard accent adopted by British dictionaries.

Grammar Practice

These are highly motivating and valuable self-study materials. The courses are available at three levels, each containing over 150 interactive grammar practice activities as well as an integrated grammar reference.

They are designed to cover all the important grammar at each level and to help learners discover grammar rules and learn in a fun way.

Vocabulary Practice

The Net Languages Vocabulary Practice courses are highly motivating and valuable self-study materials. The courses are available at three levels: Basic (A1 to A2 of the Common European Framework), Intermediate (B1 to B1+) and Advanced (B2 to C1). Each level contains approximately 200 interactive activities.

These courses are designed to cover a range of important lexical areas at each level. Vocabulary is presented simply and attractively via a clear index page which allows learners to easily find the lexical areas they want to practise. The material in each course includes a large number of interactive discovery and practice exercises which will help learners to discover meaning and use of new vocabulary in a fun way. Learners are supported during the course by feedback, examples in context, explanations, highly useful visual and audio support, as well as exercise answers.

Courses A and B for kids are for young learners between the ages of 8 and 12 with basic knowledge of English.

Our English courses for teenagers, Course A and Course B, are designed for learners between 12 and 14 years old who have a pre-intermediate knowledge of English.

Using a variety of entertaining and stimulating activities – including stories, animations, videos and games – the 10 units in each course target a range of themes and focus on vocabulary extension and grammar practice. The English for Teens courses are ideal as a complement to schoolwork, for self-study, or for students working together in pairs or small groups.

English for Doctors

The Net Languages English for Doctors course is specifically designed for doctors who deal with English-speaking patients in the surgery. The course provides study and practice of useful language, using visually attractive materials, high-quality listening material and a wide variety of exercise types and activities to make learning and practising English a meaningful and fun experience.

The course provides learners with approximately 25 hours of study material. Written and spoken tutorials put the content of the course into practice in a useful, communicative and enjoyable way, allowing course participants to consult with tutors about any issues that arise concerning the use of English in their personal context.
