2006 Shortlist and Prize WinnerThe shortlisted books for the 2006 prize are as follows (in alphabetical order by surname):
Clandfield and Prodromou address many of the numerous problems faced by teachers providing solutions, strategies and suggestions for the language teacher including working with large classes, mixed levels, different learning styles and discipline.
This revised version of How to Teach English will without doubt become required reading for candidates on teacher training courses worldwide just as the 2001 version has been since its publication.
As an author can only be awarded the Ben Warren prize a maximum of twice, Scott Thornbury's A – Z is not eligible to win the prize for a book published in 2006 as Scott won in 1999 and 2001. However, we do wish to give the author and book a special commendation as it more than fulfils the criteria for a winner. It is innovative, highly informative and imminently readable. In fact it is difficult to put it down once started. It is likely that this book will become a standard work for all ELT establishments for many years to come.
