The main building at IH Barcelona is at Trafalgar 14, as shown above, about 5 minutes' walk from Plaça Catalunya (i.e. the city centre), and from the Ramblas, Barcelona's most famous street.
Our Courses Abroad Department, and some of our classrooms, are at Ortigosa 10 [ map ], which is just round the corner.
To our north are the streets of the Eixample with their distinctive grid-iron layout, where the majority of Barcelona's amazing Modernista architecture [ photos ] is to be found.
Immediately to the south there is the medieval district of Sant Pere [ photos ], where the Palau de la Música Catalana is also to be found (see map), a two-minute walk from the school.
And, on the other side of Via Laietana, there is the Barrio Gótico [ photos ], the historical centre which grew up around the location of Barcelona's Roman forum (today the Plaza Sant Jaume).
Arriving on foot from Plaza Catalunya
Exit Plaza Catalunya via its south-east corner, along Calle Fontanella. Then proceed along the south side of the Plaza Urquinaona when you come to it and then bear right down our street, Calle Trafalgar.
International House is right on the corner at the bottom of the street, where it is met by the side street Calle Ortigosa.
Arriving by Metro
If you are coming by Metro, the nearest stops to IH Barcelona are Urquinaona (on the red Line 1); Plaza Catalunya (on the green Line 3); and Urquinaona (on the yellow Line 4).
The FGC train service also stops in Plaza Catalunya, and may be more convenient for certain parts of the city.
Arriving by airport bus
If you are arriving in Barcelona by plane, the very convenient Aerobus (the airport bus) stops right outside the Corte Inglés department store in Plaza Catalunya.

The best online map of Barcelona is possibly that on the official bcn.cat site. It's fully searchable (try looking for IH Barcelona at Trafalgar 14) and is rather better at displaying things like Metro stops and other services than Google Maps.
Barcelona has an excellent bus and underground service and has a website which you may find useful for getting around.
On the same site, you will find a map of where the Barcelona tourist bus goes. Lots of visitors to Barcelona have found the tourist bus a good way to visit the main sites of tourist interest and also a way of generally getting their bearings in the city.
